N.C.KARUNYA

N. C. Karunya (born March 1, 1986) Karunya was born in the city of Hyderabad into a family of classical singers. He has been training in Carnatic music with his guru and uncle NC Murthy since the age of four. His cousin Hemachandra (singer) also made into top 3 contestants of another music talent hunt show Sa Re Ga Ma Pa aired on ZEE TV in 2006. He is currently pursuing his Bachelor's degree (major: 'Electronics and Communications Engineering'). His schooling and initial forays into music were at his alma mater Brahm Prakash DAV, Kanchanbagh.

Karunya had released an album in his childhood called 'Chiru Sarigamalu' which was launched by South-Indian actor Chiranjeevi. He later also went on to win the 'Paaduta Teeyaga' hosted by Dr.SP Balasubrahmanyam (SPB), televised throughout South India on 'Eenadu Television'. He was appreciated highly by SPB and the audience of Andhra Pradesh for his ability to render a wide range of music. He has also sung at many local stage shows in Hyderabad. In 2005, he had sung two songs in the Telugu movie "Varsham".

After the end of Indian Idol 2, Karunya has sung for the Hindi film Lage Raho Munnabhai, two songs for the Hindi Film Jai Santoshi Maa, as well as for several other Telugu films. He had also done numerous concerts in the US. His show in Dallas on 7 October 2006 had an audience of 40000, the highest for any Indian Artist in the US. In June 2006, Karunya performed at a 'charity concert', in Hyderabad.
